FAQ
What should I expect?
To have fun! My goal is to produce a personal, professional collection of story telling and artistic portraits. I want to capture you and your family in a relaxed manner, being who you are! If that means tickle fights or silly faces, I want to see it!
What is the best time for my session?
The best time for photographs are in the early morning (before 12:00am) and in the evening (5pm – 8pm). The light is beautiful and warm during
those times and makes for magical photos.
When working with children, it is best that we try to work around their feeding and nap times. Happy kiddos = better pictures!
How long will my session take?
Well, that depends on you. Usually sessions take 1-2 hours. They can sometimes take longer, depending on what locations you choose. Also, breaks are sometimes needed for the little ones – for snacks or diaper changes or sleepiness… or the occasional emotional breakdown. Either way, we will take the time we need to get the pictures you’ll love! Custom photography is a luxury and I want to make the experience as easy as possible.
What should I wear?
When choosing clothing for portraits, it is best to avoid clothes with words, logos or busy patterns. Simple styles and colors always work great. If multiple people are in the photos, color coordinating is a must!
Bare feet look great in photos, but if you prefer shoes, simple and clear ones work best!
For babies, clothes are great, but babies are also great to photograph without clothes.
If you need help or have questions, don’t be afraid to ask! I love feeling like a fashionista!
Can I bring my own props?
Absolutely! I love it when people come to me with ideas or themes for photos. If there is something you have in mind for your photos,
please let me know in advance so I can plan better. I do have props that can be used as well.
Can the pictures be taken at my home?
Of course! What a wonderful idea! Think about where in your home you would like the pictures and remember to clear away any clutter. Staircases,
fireplaces, decks and gardens are great, as are bedrooms and the kitchen. A nursery is a perfect place for a maternity session!
My child has a scratch on their face. Can we still take pictures?
No worries there! Minor touch-ups are completed during the editing process. Scratches, bruises, blemishes and even stray hairs can be removed.
How much editing can you do?
I prefer to keep the editing to minimum – just minor touch-ups and such. I do chose pictures to change to black and white, sepia or other creative edits. If you prefer your photos edited more, such as skin smoothing, eye brightening or even changing your eye color, please let me know in
advance.
